Rocket To The Moon Magazine's Review...

'Rocket To The Moon Magazine' just this morning released their review of the 6 tracks previewed at the Saturday night listening party, check it out:

After the success of R&M's debut album 'Envy' there was a monumental amount of pressure on R&M to release a follow up album both fans and critics would not be disappointed with. The result? Well, let's break it down for you:

Hit The Spot: You'd have to live under a rock to not to of heard this. Hit The Spot, the first single, was an amazing opener to the listening party and if anything it only sounds better now in comparison to when we first heard it.

Kick It Up: Kick It Up follows in the same line as Hit The Spot, with its quirky club production and it's fun hook, this song could very easily be the next single.

Back-seat: Although this mid-tempo ballad isn't perfect, it isn't without its redeeming qualities. The track begins slowly with a soft vintage record sound and a luscious bluesy piano before coming in with a rhythmic drumbeat and some admittedly well written lyrics about walking away from a messy relationship.

Invitation: This Dannii Minogue track is an interesting choice of song to cover, but it does work really well. While it does stay true to the original the production is a little less subdued which gives it a slightly more uptempo feel, which contrasts the midtempo synthy production of the original. Overall a very solid song with only one major flaw; the vocals. While Mark hits the notes with ease and no apparent effort, Ryan struggles and strains to hit the notes while still falling flat. This doesn't however impact too much on the song as Ryan's solo time is much less than Mark's, and with the help of some pro-tools he almost sounds tolerable.

French Kissing: 'All I've been missing is another french kissing' coo R&M in a soft chest voice. This synth-heavy up-tempo is executed in true R&M style with luscious lyrics, vocals and music. A catchy song reminiscent of Kylie Minogue's 'In Your Eyes'.

Not Lucid: A touching, understated ballad about an unstable relationship. The song begins with restrained vocals and a simple beat before building up to a climax complete with luscious strings and Mark belting out vocals that are simply to die for. The song then closes with R&M softly singing in unison; 'You're not lucid/You know you're not lucid'.
