‘Mirrored Love’, the second single from ‘Envy’ proved that R&M were not just one hit wonders quickly going platinum without support from a physical single but just from digital downloads alone. The song would soon establish R&M as artists to be reckoned with, with critics describing it as ‘an intoxicating pop gem, reminiscent of early Madonna’. Mirrored Love reached #1 and stayed there for a total of three weeks, just in time for the stunning ballad ‘Garden Of Whispers’ which quickly became a top ten hit, followed by ‘Key To My Heart’ which became R&M’s third #1.
After some time in the studio R&M returned with promises of a more urban sound and an album full of ‘club bangers’ and ‘pull-at-the-heart-string-
‘Losing My Faith’, the inspirational ballad that quickly saw R&M receiving fan mail about how the song had saved their lives was released shortly before the album’s release after it was postponed as a means to keep the buzz for the album continuing, and achieved exactly that. The song became a top ten hit and stayed in the top twenty for a total of eight weeks. The song was heralded as ‘Ryan Bartlett’s best work as a writer to date’ and as a song that displayed ‘impeccable vocal control’.
Then came ‘Rush’; the album that had already garnered two top ten hits prior to its release. The album debuted at an impressive #4 and saw immense critical praise, eventually resulting in second week sales higher than its debut week, shooting it up to #1. The slick track ‘Excuse My French’ was released two months later and became R&M’s fifth #1. Excuse My French is still to this day going on strong with airplay and plans for a fourth single are already formulating.
With only two albums to their name R&M have already established themselves as pop icons. Now the pop duo are ready to take on their next challenge; a world tour.
Into The Rush, the pop spectacle in support of their new album ‘Rush’ is set to be the tour of the year and will see R&M perform tracks from both ‘Envy’, ‘Rush’ and two tracks from other iconic artists. The tour which has been in the works for over six months now sees Ryan and Mark as co-creative directors along with Jamie King the man behind concerts for artists including Madonna, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. The tour will see choreography from Michael Rooney who was responsible for Kylie Minogue’s ‘KylieX2008’ and costuming from none other than Giorgio Armani.
With a budget of $100 000 000 the tour is bound to be nothing short of the night of your life and so get your skates on because tickets for the first leg of the tour are set to go on sale the 25th of June and they are bound to sell fast.
